# How to Assign an Assignment to an Individual Student Summary

## This article covers how to assign an assignment to one student or a few students, instead of the whole class. You do it from the gradebook of the assignment.

### Assign to individual students

1. Go to the gradebook of the assignment you want to assign.
2. Click **Assign** in the upper right corner.

1. A pop-up opens on the left side. Choose **Individual**.
2. Find the student's name and check the box next to it. Check one student or several.
3. Set the **start date** and the **due date**.
4. Review the other options in the pop-up.
5. Click **Assign**.

**Each student you checked gets their own individual assignment.**

 Common questions

### Does this assign the assignment to the whole class?

No. Only the students you check receive it.

### Is it possible to assign to more than one student at a time?

Yes. Check the box next to each student you want to include.

### Where do I find the assignment to start from?

Open the gradebook of the assignment. The Assign button is in the upper right corner.
